Electrical wiring does not last forever. Insulation ages, homes add more appliances, and wiring that was fine years ago can become unsafe. Watch for these signs.
- Lights flicker or dim when a heavy appliance starts.
- Switches or sockets feel warm or show brown/black marks.
- A burning or plastic smell near switchboards — switch off and call an electrician immediately.
- The MCB trips often, especially when you run AC, geyser or iron.
- Buzzing or crackling sounds from switches or the distribution board.
- The wiring is 20–25+ years old or uses old aluminium wire inside the house.
- Many extension boards are needed because there are too few sockets.
